Term: Holocaust

When I hear the word holocaust I think of a mass killing of a people. It's terrible to think that a word can have so much meaning of death and destruction.

Intro to the author:

The author of this book is a very curageous person to have when through what he went through.

what I know about him is that he went through the holocaust and survived because of his age. If he had been older he may have not survived to tell his tale.

Theme: Courage...

I belive that the theme of courage goes well with this book because it would take an enormus amount of courage to endure the horrors of the holocaust in a concentration camp.

The topic that I chose to put into the class research paper is, sports in the 1920's. I chose this topic cause I already have some knowledge on the subject and I also thought that it would be fun to learn some new things.

Prom Week!

The week before prom was a pretty long week. Waiting, waiting, and more waiting, for just about anything and everything. It was hectec, trying to find a good tux and for her to find a dress that she would like. finally though we got all of our things and it was nice to see us in our outfits.
I'll do it all again next year because it was so fun though. My first Prom, and I thought that prom was pretty good.

Nature's First Green is Gold

Natures first green is gold. I've really never thought, or noticed it, but I have recently discovered that it actually is. Trees outside of my house in the morning have a very gold tint to them. I know that later on that it wont be there, nothing in nature is indefinate. So we need to cherish what is beautiful now because it may be gone before we know it.
Only things that are like this, people have to get up and actually go outside to see. Seeing it on TV and seeing it in actual life are two opposite things, in the right situation natures gold can be and awe inspiering scene.

Spring Break

The Spring Break I had this year was a pretty interesting one, I had my wisdom teeth cut out. My wonderful, I guess you could say, Spring Break started on friday morning at about 4:00a.m. which was way to early for me to be up. I was on anti anxiety medication before hand so I really wasn't to worried about it at all.
Afterwards was the worst, it was really painful and I didn't want to eat, or for that matter I couldn't eat anything. For the next few days all I could manage to eat was a few packs of Ramen Noodles, which by the way are really good.
Close to the end of my spring break, around Thursday, when the stitches that were in my mouth finally dissolved away and I was back to eating normally and I wasn't on pain medication anymore. So I was a pretty happy guy at that point in time.
So my Spring Break this year was interesting, and I could bet yours wasn't as painful as mine.

Halo Contact Harvest Review

Have you wondered what the future might ever be like? If you were to read Halo Contact Harvest by Joseph Staten you would get a ficticious but maybe not so far off look at how the future of humanity might be like.
This book takes place over the course of a couple of years and it describes what happens to a man named Avery Johnson, who is a seargeant in the Marines. Also it fallows a man named Jenkins, who is a farmboy on a colony world called Harvest.
Contact Harvest doesn't take place on Earth, it takes place on a colony world called Harvest which is a hot humid agricultural planet that produces a major amount of all of the colonies. The book also takes place on a couple of other less important places but the major part of the story is on Harvest.
I can't really think of a theme for this book though, it was a little hard to peice together for me. If I was to put a theme to this book it would be to fight for what is yours and protect it with your life if necisary.
I would recomend this book to anyone who is interested in science fiction novels.

Civil war

My sisters are always fighting with each other, in nasty little violent episodes of screaming fits and a lot of slapping.
Me and my friends sometimes get into it a little, but it's not a violent fight, it's really just trying to see who can be the biggest smart-elec.
My friend and his mom have some pretty interesting bouts, but you can't really consider it fighting, its more like playing but it's pretty rough.

Halo First Strike review

Eric Nylunds' First Strike blew me away with the amount of action and back story that was in it.
Theme of this book fits into the bullying mentallity unit because The main character John has to kill a few people to get the rest of them to do what he needs them to do. I love the style of this book because its what I like, a lot of action, its what made the book to me, worth reading. The characters in this book also made it a good read. John, Sergeant Johnson, Haverson, and Cortana. All of them are from a very popular videogame called HALO.
The setting in this book is very fictional, in that its set 500 years in the future, and the human race is under attack by an alien race called The Covenate. This book also provides backstory to the second videogame in the trilogy.
I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes HALO or loves fiction books with lots of action.

Semester tests

In my opinion semester tests are a necesary evil, but I also think that you should be exempt from the tests if you have and A in the class.

Bullying

I think that there is a small bullying problem in our school. Not a very bad one but there is definately bullying, and I think that we need to have a stricter policy on bullying because when this does happen nothing really happens to the offender. So in my opinion bullying is present but its not a major problem.

Being thankful

"Speak" book review

Laurie Halse Andersons' Speak moved me by how one girl had to take on so much in her life, and finnaly fixing it all.
The theme of this book I would have to say is that no matter how hard life is at the moment, you need to get some strength and push through it, or it will continue to be a bad situation. This book also fits into the "bulling mentallity unit" because, of the way all the other people in the book treat Melinda, the main character. The style of the book is more like a play because of the way the characters lines are seperated. The main characters in this book are Melinda, Andy Evans, Heather, and Ivy. These characters all play some of the most important parts in the book.
The setting for this book is a highschool that Melinda is going to. The plot of the book is that Melinda had a terrible experience over the summer and when she got back to school no one accepted her except for a new girl. Then she has to start confronting her problems and relates them to a tree.
I would reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in drama genre.

Gears of War book review

Karen Traviss' Gears of War Aspho Fields overtook me with the amount of action and back story.
Theme of this book fits into "A Pioneer never quits" because even when things are starting to look really bad people seem to pull through and continue on. I like the style of this book because it has a mix of humor, drama, and has some serious notes to it.
The characters in this book are awsome, partly because they have a very unique personalities to them. Carlos, Marcus, and Dom remind me of my two friends because were more of a family than just friends.
Setting in this book plays a pretty important role in the way the book flows, because it's not Earth, it's a planet called Sera which is pretty similar to Earth. The details of were things in the book take place are pretty vivid so its easy to picture what the area looks like.
The plot of the book is to bridge the gap between the game Gears of War and the sequel Gears of War 2, and to provide a back story to the first game.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction, or is a fan of the games.

Well so far school this year has gone ok. I'm liking the 11th grade and my teachers are allright. I was hopeing to start the year off better than I have and now I need to try and raise my grades. Right now I'm starting to read a book called Gears of War Aspho Fields and so far its a pretty good book and I'm hoping that it stays as good as it has started.
Also I joined the FCCLA and im hopeing that it is at least an ok club. I mean at least some of my friends are in it.
My duck I almost forgot. Well I've decided to name him Lance, but honestly I really dont know why. Well as I've said I hope this year goes good for me.
